Emerging Playwrights is a play-writing competition sponsored by Riverwalk Theatre and generously supported by Gordon Masters. The competition is open to high school students in Ingham, Eaton and Clinton Counties. Students in grades 9-12 are invited to write short one-act plays and submit them to the competition. Five plays will be selected for production and each author will receive a $1000 prize.

In addition to the $1000 prizes, the playwrights will have their scripts produced as full productions or staged
readings at Riverwalk Theatre’s Emerging Playwrights Festival in August. The playwrights will have an active role in
bringing their scripts to life on stage.
