24th Season (2012-13)
Main Stage and Black Box Productions

Variety dominates Rverwalk Theatre's 24th season, with musicals, comedy, drama, political intrigue, a mystery thriller, and a children’s Christmas show on the packed schedule. Our main stage season, along with three ‘black box’ productions, will highlight the work of several veteran directors as well as some making their directorial debuts.

GETTING NEAR TO BABY*

Getting Near to Baby deals with the breadth of children’s loss, grief and capacity to overcome tragedy with so much humor, wisdom and sensitivity that nothing but good conversation can come of any adult and child viewing it together. Set in a small town in 1967, the play is a reminder of the amazing resilience of children and the power of family.

THE 39 STEPS

Sgt. Paprika's Penny Lane Hotel is failing.  Some high school students publicize that the Beatles once spent a night there and all kinds of hotel "guests" begin to arrive, including fans, impersonators, crooks and detectives.

In 1950's TV-land, a Mel Brooks type sketch writer working for a Sid Caesar type boss is tasked with keeping a wayward movie star variety show guest (an Errol Flynn type) sober and celibate until air-time. Shenanigans ensue in a frenzy of early-TV nostalgia.

The Diviners

 In a small farm community during the depression water and faith are in short supply.
A charismatic but back-sliding preacher drifts into town and meets a gentle but
misunderstood boy with the gift of divining or water-witching. The two outcasts find a
common bond and help each  other divine for truth, faith and hope.
