Custodial and Maintenance
Job Description
The custodial and maintenance employee is responsible for cleaning the public areas of Riverwalk Theatre and performing general, routine and preventive maintenance. The employee is also responsible for maintaining the grounds. The position is twelve to fifteen (12-15) hours per week as scheduled by Theatre Manager. (Additional hours need specific approval from the Theatre Manager.)
Specific attention should be paid to having the theatre clean for public performances and events. The theatre should be ready for the public by Wednesday of each show week, and must be cleaned daily between performances.
Specific job responsibilities/duties include, but are not limited to the following :
Public Restrooms – Clean the counters, sinks, mirrors, toilets, urinals, stall walls and doors, and air vents and mop floors. Empty trash. Replenish soap, hand towels and toilet tissue. Replace burned out light bulbs. Perform any needed repairs.
Lobby, Halls, Entrance, Coat Room, Front Office and Voms – Vacuum carpet and furniture (as needed). Clean all doors and door handles, water fountain. Mop entrance area and clean windows. Empty trash. Replace burned out light bulbs.
Concession Room – Clean sinks and counters. Mop floors. Periodically clean appliance exteriors.
Storage Closets and Rooms – Maintain a clean and orderly appearance.
Board Room, Green Room and Dressing Rooms - Empty trash. Clean floor. Replenish soap, hand towels and toilet tissue. Replace burned out light bulbs. Perform any needed repairs.
Auditoriums – Clean seating areas. Replace burned out work and house lights. Perform any needed repairs. Check and maintain EXIT lights.
Rehearsal Hall – Empty trash. Clean floor.
Routine and Preventive Maintenance – Check HVAC units for proper operation. Replace filters as scheduled. Check door closers for proper operation. Make minor repairs as needed.
Grounds – Mow grass and trim as needed. Remove weeds and unwanted foliage. Shovel snow from theatre entrance and stage entrance as needed. Maintain lawnmower and snowblower.
Other – Maintain weather stripping on doors. Periodically walk through the building and grounds with the theatre manager and Building Committee chairperson to identify and address other maintenance and cleaning issues as they come up. Touch up paint as needed. Order supplies as needed and approved by Theatre Manager. Perform other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Theatre Manager.
